“Is it about a bicycle”

Made completely out of two part wood filler “is it about a bicycle” is a cast of a post-war British school chair, transforming a familiar object into an uncanny echo of itself.  Inspired by the third policeman by Flann O’Brien,the work explores questions of identity, materiality and reality. Like in the book, the line between person and object becomes blurred. The chair becomes a metaphor for its unstable perception. The title comes from the last line of the novel, leaving everything hanging in a loop of confusion – just like the story itself.
